Great Gift Idea!

Okay, I get a moment to brag.
My kids gave me the best gift this past Mother's Day.
Inspired by stories of my childhood on the West Coast,
the garden my parents had and my love of succulents and cactus,
they conspired to give me the gift that keeps on giving.
I think it is a lovely present.
This may be given for so many occasions,
(i.e. housewarming, hospital, birthday...keep going)...
They came up with this idea on their own.
I cannot take any credit for it.
Every day when I look at it on my desk,
I think of them.
They bought the bowl at TJ Maxx,
 the cactus (cacti?) at Lowes,
the pebbles at Target!
What do you think?
I love my indoor, desk sized garden!

Camouflage With Graphic Prints!

Have you seen Flor lately?  They are looking fabu!   Flor is a system of carpet squares that you assemble to create runners, area rugs or wall to wall carpeting. The concept has always been an innovative idea, but they just stepped it up in sophistication with their new graphic prints! Go see for yourself at Flor.

The Brass Elephant!

I have had several people ask me where I found my brass elephants.
I literally stumbled over this pair in a thrift shop.
Initially, I thought I would take them home,
spray paint them in a soft white and use one for a ring holder
on my bedside table.
Shh..I heard a gasp!
Yes, I was going to paint them!
I would keep one and give one to my daughter.
Then,
I placed them in a vignette
and now...
I think they are going to stay brass for while.
I found more brass pachyderms on Etsy.
A few, I like better than my own!
Maybe you will find one you like.

Summer Is Not Over!

I kissed my boy goodbye this morning,
before he headed off to school,
with the 30 lb backpack and all the football gear,
I thought,
"They should still be swimming!".
It is still summer after all!
August is one of the hottest months of the year.
I am for school resuming AFTER Labor Day!
By then, it seems that fall is just around the corner.
What do you think?
Here are some artists that have captured the theme of
 summer and swimming.
The water looks so refreshing you may want to take a plunge!

What's Black & White....

and looks fabulous in an elegant gold frame?
Sketch Art!
I adore sketches!
Black and white doodles,
swirls, dots, dashed lines,
that somehow come together to
 become an image.
There is beauty in the simplicity and gathered together on
a gallery wall...
Gorgeous!
Cards in small golden frames look sophisticated
and are easy on the budget.

Southern Art!

I have told you before,
I just LOVE to discover an artist,
who's work I have not seen before.
Beautiful flowers and arrangements abound,
Kaleidoscope of texture, pattern and color,
each painting more gorgeous than the last!
But don't just take my word for it,
Go see for yourself.
You will fall in love with her art too!
