Pillows-Functional Art, Color, Texture!

This post may seem self indulgent,
but I could not resist.
has introduced throw pillows for embellishing with design.

I LOVE pillows, in fact, I used to hand paint them for exclusive retailers.
In my opinion, they are the perfect accessory!

You add color, art or change a room"s mood and appearance with the toss
of a few great pillows.

Here are a few of the cushions embellished with my art,
tossed up and combined
with some of the beautiful pillows
in the market place.

Chances are, you will find a way to mix it all up differently than I have,
but that's the fun of it,
isn't it?

Hydrangea, A Southern Love!

I was at Boxwood Gardens & Gifts in Atlanta the other day.
If you have not been, put it on your short list of boutiques to visit when you are in town.
They have flowers, furnishings, antiques, style trends & fashion.
I did not take pictures, but click on the link above to visit their store online.
Be sure to look at "Fashion", they had vintage couture button bracelets
that featured Chanel, Givenchy & Hermes.
Very chic!
A visitor can wander several times around the store from one bountiful room to the next,
outside to the garden,
and still not see all the merchandise.
So you may be asking yourself, why a post about Hydrangea?
Boxwood Gardens & Gifts was filled to capacity with Hydrengea in different colors
 and species, some rare.
I was thinking about them this morning when I was looking at Etsy.
Here is a collection of Hydrangea Art works from Etsy.
Different colors, styles, species...rare.
Which one do you like?
I like them all of them!

Playing with Pink Florals!

Soooo, I find myself playing with my "style" in watercolors lately.
I guess it is like exercise, trying to stretch myself.
For me the beauty in the painting with this medium is the unrestraint,
the way it runs and bleeds,
or pools and saturates with color.
Then it dries.
I have worked with them for a while
 and
there is still degree of mystery with watercolors.
What do you think?

Linen Napkins!

Yesterday, I posted about tablescapes for Easter Sunday.
Then, I went shopping for beautiful napkins.
I cannot help but think I should have posted these
pretty finds a couple of weeks ago,
as it may be too late to order these for the festivities this weekend.
I will do better next year.
These napkins would be gorgeous any time,

they add polish and sophistication to a table top.
They make the setting special.
I found the napkins below on Etsy,
but Pottery Barn, West Elm, Neiman Marcus,
carry elegant napkins all year round.
I love all of the ones below for different reasons,
whether they are
 hand painted, monogrammed,
or
 embellished.
I adore the napkins by Imali,
that are folded like bunnies.

Now...
I'm off...
I have to get ready for guests!

Tablescapes for Easter...

I am one of those incredibly lucky people whose husband is a chef.
For dinner parties or special occasions,
I get the all important task
of making sure the table looks great,
while he cooks.
I know...it's rough!
It is a tradition that works for us.
Here is some inspiration;
These tables do not have bunnies or eggs,
but they are beautiful tablescapes.
As a rule, I always have fresh flowers,
some accessories,
(candles, moss, shells, mercury glass, etc ...)
be creative,
a table cloth, or my favorite, a long fabric table runner
and I love cloth napkins.
An elegant table does not necessarily have to consist of
 matching flatware
or
dishes.
You can mix them up or use what you have.
The flowers, accessories and matching napkins will anchor your table.

There are some days we all need inspiration.
Whether we need to be inspired to begin a new project

face a new day.
I happen to love beautiful flowers and wise or witty sayings.
I have been collecting some on Pinterest.
